Summer 2010 on the Orihuela Costa.
School's OUT( yes....,we know it's 12 weeks parents) , the temepratures are rising and people are beginning to flock to the playground of the Southern Costa Blanca.
That can only mean one thing......SUMMER IS HERE!!!
There's always an air of expectance on the Orihuela Costa, the Costa Blanca and the whole country, as the Summer Season begins. Places start to fill up, stay open later and there's a happy, holiday feeling in the air ( except for those of us at work of course).
Summer 2010 is ecpected to be BIG here on the Orihuela Costa....there are reports of huge number increases on last year, so let's hope that our amazing rfegion brings some holiday joy to those who visit our shores.

The Orihuela Costa is the costal area of Orihuela on the Costa Blanca in South East Spain. Orihuela is an historic and exceptionally picturesque city situated approx. 20 kilometres inland of the Orihuela Costa.
The Orihuela Costa lies on the most Southern point of the Costa Blanca and comprises of roughly 16 km of fine powder-sand beaches, rocky coves and sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean, stretching from Punta Prima (just south of Torrevieja), Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Villamartin, Campoamor and Mil Palmeras

Holiday makers from all over Europe are attracted to the Orihuela Costa by the wonderful, safe, clean and well looked after "blue flag" awarded beaches (with lifeguards – Cruz Rojo in July, August & September), the fine climate and the choice of hundreds of bars, cafes, restaurants, entertainment venues to suit all tastes and, that relaxing 'do nothing' feel that a beach holiday can provide.

These are all dotted along and slightly inland from the N332 coastal road between Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada and are easily accessed from this road and from the AP-7 motorway ( An AP on a motorway denotes a toll road). As with much of the Costa Blanca, The Orihuela Costa enjoys the benefits of a Mediterranean Climate and is alledged to be one of the healthiest places on earth to live (according the W.H.O Statistics), with an average of 320 days of sunshine each year and has an average temperature of around 20 degrees centigrade, low pollution and very low rainfall (2007 & 2008 being exceptions to date).
The temperatures can soar during July and August when it can reach 40 degrees very easily and higher. In the winter the temperatures rarely fall below double figures (although 2008 was a particularly cold and long winter, with nightime temperatures getting below 5 degrees celcius regularly).
