The Orihuela Costa has 2 main  bus routes that cross the area and stop into all, or as many of the urbanisations as possible around the coast and the inland urbanisations, 2 of which were introduced in April 2009..
The Bus company who provide the local public transport is Autocares Costa Azul (just know as Costa Azul) and provide routes across the Orihulea Costa, through the urbanisations and along the N332, with stops for all of the beaches, and making stops at the Hospital de Torrevieja and the Town Hall to around 20 stops along the way,

The buses do go on a very roundabout way to get you where you need to get to, but they do get you there.
Check local information boards and with tyhe Town Hall or OCM magazine for a map of routes and stops.

The nearest Bus Stations are in Torrevieja (the local station just as you come into town, near the Vista Alegre and the main Bus Station, which connect to many other regional destinations in the town Centre on Avenida Las Habaneras (0034 966 701 068)
It is always best to check for times as they are usually approximations and buses can be quite late. They are also subject to seasonal and other influences such as high summer traffic, the current extension of the N332, bottle-necks on the road etc.

National Buses .

The National Coach Company is ALSA (a part of National Express), providing services to the whole of Spain and connections beyond. Coaches can be boarded in Torrevieja or Alicante, or even Murcia on the Costa Claida.
The coaches are all air conditioned and very comfortable, allowing for a pleasant journey at reasonable prices.
You can book your tickets online and they always have a range of special offers availale.
ALSA also can provide airport transfers, information available on their site, which you can access by clicking the advert above.

Local & Regional Buses .

You can catch a bus to Alicante or Cartagena from the N332 - make sure you are on the correct side of the road Torrevieja is travelling North, Cartagena - South
If you want to travel further afield, then it may be a better idea to get a local bus (like the 'F' bus at Los Altos or the 'D' bus from Punta Prima) into Torrevieja Bus Station (make sure you are at the right station).

Taxis on the Orihuela Costa.
Taxis on the Orihuela Costa are usually white, with a TAXI light on the top and the emblem of the Town Hall (ayuntiamneto) somewhere on a side door or the boot.
Taxis are very reasonably priced and can be found around the supermarkets, dedicated taxi Ranks (La Zenia) or where there is a Taxi sign (usually with a number to call).

Just to make sure that your taxi ride doesn't end up costing too much, make sure that the driver had the meter turned ON. Ask if you are unsure. If you are told that the meter is broken, then negotiate a price.
Remember:- Taxis may pick up other people if there are spaces available. You can tell this by a number displayed on the taxi light, usually on the right side, indicating the number of seats available.

Also, please note that you cannot get a Taxi from your area to collect you later if your are going into another area (e.g. Playa Flamenca - Torrevieja...you will have to get a Torrevieja licenced cab home, as an Orihuela Costa cab isn't licenced to pick up in Torrevieja.

Let the Train take the strain. Trains in the region

Trains in the Region.
Sadly, there are no Train Stations in the Orihuela Costa or neighbouring Torrevieja, meaning there is, of course no train service locally.
The National Train Company for Spain is RENFE, providing excellent services throughout the whole Country, nearest sations to the Orihuela Costa being Orihuela or Alicante (for journeys throughout the whole country).
With the imminent arrival of the AVE, journey times to Madrid, Barcelona and into France and beyond, will be slashed.
Trains have various tarrifs available to suit every budget and traveller class and are all very comfortable, with excellent on-board facilities (if you can afford a few euros more, go for the first class option)

Plane Travelling. Air Travel within Spain and further afield.

With the Orihuela Costa being ideally placed near 2 airports (with a third opening 2010 or 2011), flying to other destinations both within Spain and Europe is realtively easy.
The National Carrier is IBERIA, who have a low cost division AIR NOSTRUM
Flights to Madrid, Barcelona and all other major destinations in the country are frequent, reasonably priced and quick. For those who may not want a coach or train trip, a quick hop to another part of the country is ideal for those who may wish to see other parts of the country, whilst on a visit, have a mini-break or a getaway for a few days.

Other airlines that provide regular domestic and European flights include low cost arilines such as:-
Click-Air

Monarch

Bmi-Baby Vueling
Ryanair

Easy Jet

This is not an exhaustive list and there are an abundance of flights to be had at reasonable prices. Whether you decide to explore the Orihuela Costa using local transport, get a regional bus to another destination or decide to explore other parts of the country, services are plentiful and reasonably priced.
